Getting out of your comfort zone makes you feel uncomfortable, vulnerable and a lot of the time, like an idiot. But without it, there is no growth.
One thing I’ve learned is you can’t be good at everything. So while I’m OK at lifting weights, helping others think differently and writing, I completely suck at a ton of other things.
Which is why last night, I went to the pool to swim some laps.
For those who don’t know, my swimming ability is similar to that of a brick.
But hey, we all start somewhere, and with some helpful tips from champion school sports swimmer, and best mate, Seán Moore, I started to not suck as bad.
The best thing though, is after it was all finished, I felt empowered.
To some, yes it’s just a swim, but to me, it was jumping in* and trying something new. Which is an amazing feeling. (Plus it’s a hell of a workout)
I am now committing to swimming at least 2 times a week.
What have you been wanting to try but keep putting off for whatever reason?
Telling yourself you have no time, aren’t good enough, don’t know where to start etc.
These are all excuses, and you know it.
Now is the time to throw yourself in the deep end* and commit to something that’s out of your comfort zone.
Watch how good it feels after you do it.
Feel free to comment below or message me with your commitment too. The accountability will help you.
*sorry about the puns…couldn’t resist
